First Fishing Trip Of The Week

Mike and Charlie enjoyed a successful first fishing trip today, to put it mildly. They caught a barracuda, a mahi mahi and a jack fish, in addition to about 25 red snapper. We had the local restaurant cook the mahi mahi for dinner for us tonight. Here are some pictures from their day as well as a picture of the mahi mahi on my plate at dinner :-) Unfortunately the pictures of the mahi mahi and jack fish are of the Costa Rican guides holding them because apparently they didn't speak enough English to explain how to operate an iPhone camera and Charlie was too scared of them to get in the picture.

A Full Day

Our first full day in Costa Rica was indeed a full one!! We had quite an adventuresome day which included a tractor ride, hiking, crossing two scary and scarier suspension bridges, seeing waterfalls and a volcano, letting Charlie slide on a gigantic water slide which required a helmet (you'll see why in the picture) and Mike jumping from a platform into a plunge pool at one of the waterfalls not once, but twice. (Video to follow at some point. )

Oh and did I forget to mention that Charlie found multiple snakes on our hike, at least one of which was poisonous and he narrowly avoided picking up, thanks to Mike? Here's hoping he sticks to lizard catching for the rest of the trip!
